Monica and Michelle met while working in a small animal practice together. After discussing the state of mental health within the veterinary field, they decided to offer workshops combining yoga and osteopathy to local clinics free of charge. Through these workshops, they hope to give back to the community, and help encourage the profession to prioritize their well being.
By each having experience in veterinary medicine, they understand the hurdles the profession faces every day. They hope that with this unique back ground that they can provide a more catered approach to the needs of veterinary teams.
Michelle is a registered manual osteopathic practitioner who is skilled in the hands on treatment of many conditions such as arthritis, neck pain, concussions, TMJ, headaches and migraines. She completed the DOMP (Diploma Osteopathic Manual Practitioner) program at the National Academy of Osteopathy in Toronto, graduated with honors and is so happy to be pursuing a career helping patients alleviate their pain and stress. She has taken many additional courses over the years, including those from the renowned Cranial Therapy Centre in Toronto. Her training in craniosacral therapy allows her the opportunity to help manage pain, stress and tension in patients, thus helping restore their quality of life.
After several horseback riding accidents in her younger years, Michelle struggled with chronic neck and back pain. Finding little relief from traditional modalities such as chiropractic and massage therapy Michelle finally decided to give osteopathy a try. Shocked at the difference just 1 appointment made in her level of pain and quality of life, she decided to pursue a career in manual osteopathy.
Prior to her education as a Manual Osteopath, Michelle received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Guelph in 2013 and she worked as a receptionist at a veterinary hospital. She currently has a dog named Cooper and her former show jumping horse, Black Tie. In addition to spending time with her pets, she enjoys hiking, gardening, reading and yoga.
Monica is 500-RYT, having completed her 200HR certification in 2019 before taking advantage of online learning to complete her 300HR in 2021. Monica was drawn to yoga as a way to help balance out the mental and physical demands of working as a RVT, and after falling in love with the practice decided to become a teacher herself. She aims to help people find that same sense of release - even if it's just encouraging people to find an activity besides yoga to work into their day to day.
Monica graduated from Seneca College in 2013, and spent her time from graduation working in a small animal practice while also working part time at an ER. In 2022 she made the switch to ER fulltime in 2022 to follow her passion in veterinary medicine. Monica grew up wanting to be a veterinarian, but then decided to switch gears in a completely different direction taking a detour into McMaster University's Music program. After deciding not to pursue a career in music, she circled back to veterinary medicine finding the RVT career path - she couldn't be happier with her position in the medicine team!
